Not all pups picked for the Guardian program become breeders (Pictured here is Jinxy, out of Indiana x Quigley).
Jinxy was chosen from her litter to be a potential breeding female for Bear Bones Labradors. However, today we decided with the input of her Guardian Family to remove her from the program. Jinxy hasn't reached 2 years old and hasn't had her OFA's done but she has had 2 intense heat cycles that were not pleasant. Just like humans, dog ladies have a wide range of experiences when it comes to cycling. Just like people their bodies and minds have to be taken into consideration.
We at Bear Bones Labs haven't experienced this before but we consulted others and learned more about heat cycles. Unfortunately some females have heat cycles even more taxing than what Jinxy has experienced. False pregnancies can happen and a wide range of other challenges.
Jinxy will be spayed and stay with her family. Not all girls are meant to be mom's but all dogs are meant to be loved.
